Easter flowers: The stylish alternative to chocolate eggs

Where Easter flowers are concerned, daffodils are often the first that come to mind. The bright yellow heads poking out of the warming soil after a bitter winter are a familiar sight this time of year. They're an unmissable sign that spring is on the way.
Although daffodils get all the glory at Easter time, there are other flowers that have Easter connotations, so why not mix it up this year and wow your guests with an unusual combination of breathtaking blooms? After all, presentation is key when adding that little extra something to your Easter celebrations.

Origins of Easter
Originally a pagan affair, much of the Easter iconography revolves around birth, renewal, revival and resurrection, life returning to the earth after the harshness of winter. Now Easter is mainly a Christian event and represents the most important date in the Christian calendar.
Many churches across the world hold flower festivals when the whole church is filled with displays of spring flowers, some are even made into scenes from the Easter Story.
Passion Flowers
These have particular significance for Christians. Discovered by Spanish missionaries in South America in the 15th Century, each part of the flower has symbolic meaning. They named the plant “Espina de Cristo" which means Christ's thorns, and the various fronds of the plant have come to symbolise different parts of the crucifixion story.
Lily
